General:
- • Go to “Start” (Windows icon in the bottom left) and click on “Devices and Printers”
- • Click “Add a printer” at the top of the screen
- • Select “Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer”
- • Find the printer you want, select the driver/model and follow the steps.
- • If the driver is not found, Google it to find it online or ask Brook to borrow the flash drive with the drivers on it.
For either HP 506 Printer:
- • Go to “Start” (Windows icon in the bottom left) and click on “Devices and Printers”
- • Click “Add a printer” at the top of the screen
- • Select “Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer”
- • Even though the printer will show up in the list, select “The printer I want isn’t listed” (this will make it easier to ensure which HP 506 you’re actually installing)
- • Make sure “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” is selected (should be already selected)
- • In the field “Hostname or IP address” paste in: For the second floor printer - 10.100.201.192; for the third floor printer – 10.100.201.191
- • Make sure “Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use” is checked (should be already selected)
- • You may want to name the printer “2nd Floor HP LaserJet M506” or “3rd Floor HP LaserJet M506” so that you know which one is which when the other one gets up and running
- • Optional, but recommended: changing your default setting to one-sided printing. This can be done under Start -> Devices and Printers. Right click on the 506 and select “Printing Preferences”. Where it says “Print on Both Sides”, change it to “No.” This change will then take effect once you close out of applications and re-open them.
